Perry Headed to Germany on Fulbright

March 23, 2003

WALTHAM, MA -- Jill Perry, director of the Cronin International Center at Bentley College, will spend three weeks in Germany this spring on a Fulbright Scholar Program. Perry was selected as one of 25 participants from a national application pool.

The Fulbright International Education Administrators Program to Germany is designed to give international education professionals an opportunity to learn about German culture, society and higher education and make contacts for future partnerships. Participants will meet with education and government officials in Berlin, Dresden and Munich and visit a variety of educational institutions.

Perry says she hopes the program will provide a foundation for developing future partnerships with German institutions. Bentley currently has no study abroad programs in Germany, but Perry says students have expressed interest in studying there. Perry says she also hopes to advocate for German language classes at Bentley upon her return.

"Germany is a major economic leader and German is a widely spoken business language," Perry says. "It is important for our students to have an opportunity to learn more about the country and culture. This program will enable me to make the contacts to facilitate that."

Perry is director of the Joseph M. Cronin International Center at Bentley College. In this role, she is responsible for developing partnerships with institutions abroad and overseeing student and faculty international exchanges. The center works to increase awareness of and appreciation for ethnic, cultural and other forms of diversity, through courses, campus events and international education opportunities.
