 Bentley University professors Jeff Gulati and Christine Williams received a Best Paper Award from the Journal of Information Technology & Politics (JIPT) for the project "Congressional Candidates' Use of YouTube in 2008: Its Frequency and Rationale." The award was presented at JITP's first annual conference held in Amherst, Mass., on April 16 and 17, 2009.

Bentley alumni Joshua Davis and Bruno Tropeano, co-founders of The Gelato Fiasco, have progressed to the second phase of the nationwide Intuit Small Business United contest. Their goal is to receive the grand prize of a $25,000 small business grant to further the development of their Maine-based company. The Bentley alumni have already received a $5,000 grant for advancing in the competition after submitting a true story that happened to them as small business owners.

Bentley University has awarded its first doctoral degree to Kwadwo N. Asare, who earned a PhD in Accountancy after he successfully defended his dissertation "Essays on the Influence of Corporate Governance on Financial Analysts' Forecast-Related Judgments." Asare, known affectionately by his peers and colleagues as "Kojo," received his official degree on May 16, 2009 at the commencement ceremony for the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University.
