Bentley College Professor Jean C. Bedard, the Timothy B. Harbert Professor of Accounting, will share a $324,000 grant from the NASD Investor Education Foundation with two researchers from the University of Central Florida. The grant will fund research aimed at enhancing the comprehension, accessibility, and accuracy of financial reports for both institutional and retail investors.

Dr. Nadar Asgary, an expert in international business, has been named Bentley College's first Associate Provost for International Relations and the Director of the Cronin International Center. Asgary will also hold appointments in the Management and International Studies departments at Bentley. In his new role at Bentley, Asgary is focused on creating partnerships with highly ranked institutions in strategic regions such as Asia, Europe, South America and Africa.

Bentley's Service-Learning Center (BSLC) has received the Bristol Lodge Recognition award by the Middlesex Human Service Agency (MHSA) for its extensive work with Waltham homeless shelters. The award is given to organizations that are committed to providing services to less fortunate members of the community.

Marketing students at Bentley are spending time in a chemistry lab as part of an interdisciplinary course that partners them with a local company. Under the direction of Senior Lecturer of Marketing Perry Lowe and Associate Professor of Natural and Applied Sciences Bob Wallace, the students will design a new hair care product specifically formulated to provide a healthier head of hair.

As the Internet increasingly transforms the way political candidates 'do business,' two Bentley College political science professors are analyzing the use of Facebook by 2006 U.S. congressional and gubernatorial candidates. The aim of the study is to determine whether candidate postings on the site are a useful viral marketing tool for generating publicity, campaign contributions, and ultimately votes.
