‘Gearing Up’ for 2009
On May 8, the Women’s Leadership Institute at Bentley hosted its fourth annual conference for junior-level professional women. Gearing Up: Strategic Tools for Career Advancement drew about 100 participants, who gained practical guidance for the early stages of a career. The conference theme was building effective communication skills, with highlights that included a keynote address by award-winning television news anchor and author Suzanne Bates. Attendees also joined interactive workshops on subjects such as negotiating, using emotional intelligence to enhance communication, and developing presentation skills. The day ended with a conference-wide networking exercise. Event sponsors included Blue Cross Blue Shield, National Grid, Tufts Health Plan, Thermo Fisher Scientific, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and KPMG. The 2010 conference is scheduled for May 7.
Several celebrations in May and June honored Bob Minetti, the school’s outgoing vice president for development, corporate and alumni relations. His retirement in late June caps 27 years of remarkable service and commitment to Bentley.
BBQ Bentley Style
Rain held off and the skies cleared as more than 60 alumni and friends gathered under the LaCava tent for a barbecue and beer tasting. Malt beverages for the June 17 event were generously donated by Erica Taylor ’06 of Boston Beer Company and Andrew Murray ’04 of MillerCoors. Guests could also sample Fabrizia Limoncello, courtesy of B M Distilled Spirits co-owners Brett Bell ’05 and Phil Mastroianni ’05.
