Microsoft Forefront
Microsoft Forefront, our anti-malware security suite, works to protect your computer against viruses by detecting and disabling them before they can cause damage. In addition to viruses, Forefront protects against worms, adware and much more!
Once installed, Forefront runs in the background checking real-time for malware and icons appear in the system tray. By default on Bentley computers, Forefront runs a full scan every Friday at 10:00 a.m. Like other anti-malware applications, Forefront is only as good as the last update. For each known virus, a virus definition file is written to counteract the virus’s malicious intent. There are tens of thousands of known viruses and new viruses are introduced almost every day; therefore, virus definition files must be updated regularly to ensure that Microsoft Forefront can detect and clean even the most recent viruses.
If a message appears indicating that your notebook has a virus, run a Forefront scan to see if it can be detected and deleted. If this step is not successful, immediately shut down your computer and contact the Bentley Computing Services Desk.
