MyBentley

MyBentley is a portal to most online resources for students, faculty and staff. Most users log in with their Bentley Shortname and Network Password.  The exception to this rule are new students and parents. Please see below for complete details on your Bentley Shortname and Network Password.

Logging in to MyBentley

Faculty and Staff

Your shortname is the first initial of your first name followed by your last name. For example, if your name is Chris Smith, your shortname is csmith. If someone with that combination is already a faculty/staff at Bentley, your shortname may be slightly different such as the addition of a middle initial or a number (e.g., cpsmith or csmith5).

Returning Students

Your shortname is the first seven letters of your last name, underscore, followed by the first four letters of your first name.  For example, if your name is Chris Smith, your shortname is smith_chri. If someone with that combination is already a student at Bentley, your shortname will have a number added to it (e.g., smith1_chri).

New Student

A Bentley Shortname is created 24 hours after you have signed the “Technology Ethics Agreement” in MyBentley. Until a Bentley Shortname is created for you, you will enter your Bentley ID and MyBentley password.

Undergraduate Applicants to Bentley

Your log in information was sent to you via email and an acknowledgement card was mailed to you once we processed your admission application to Bentley.  Your username is your Bentley ID number: @00000000 (the '@' sign is required followed by an additional eight digits).  Your password is your date of birth (in the format: mmddyyyy).  If you have questions, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 781.891.2244 or by email.

Parent

To log in to MyBentley, you will use your username and password created by your student.  If you forget your username or password please contact your student for assistance.

MyBentley and Network Passwords

Faculty, staff and returning students:  If you are correctly entering your Bentley shortname and cannot log in, then your error message is occurring because of your network password. Network passwords expire annually. If you have not changed your password within a year, your password may be expired. MyBentley will not accept expired passwords. You must change your expired password before you are able to log in to MyBentley.

Your network password is also used to log in to your Bentley email account, Blackboard and the network while on campus. If you've never logged into your Bentley email account, Blackboard or the network on campus, your network password is set to default. MyBentley does not accept default network passwords. You must change your default password before you are able to log in to MyBentley. Your default password is the first two letters of your Bentley short name in capital letters followed by your eight-digit Bentley ID number (For Example: SM01234567)

Steps to Change your default or expired network password:

  1. Log on to owa.bentley.edu using your email address and expired password
  2. You will then see a Password Change dialog box
  3. Enter your expired password in the "Old/Default Password" box
  4. Select a new password and enter it in the "New Password" box.
  5. Enter the new password again in the "Confirm New Password" box
  6. Click the Submit Change button.
