Notebook Computer Warranty

Your notebook computer is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty for the duration of the time (four semesters) that it is assigned to you; however, the computer battery is covered under warranty for one year. During this time, any malfunction from a manufacturer’s defect is repaired free of charge. Repair service must be done by an authorized HP Service provider, such as the Computing Services Desk. If service is attempted by any person other than an authorized service provider, including yourself, the warranty will be void and you will be charged retail price for replacement parts and a labor cost of $60.00 per hour.

In the event of non-warranty damage, a non-warranty repair fee will be assessed to your student account.  Typical non-warranty damage ranges from $25-$100 per incident. In the event of excessive non-warranty damage, or mulitple instances of non-warranty damage, students may be billed up to $750.00 per instance.

  • In the event your computer is stolen, you must obtain a valid police report containing the serial number (you may get this information from the Computing Services desk or from the email you received when you were first received your computer) within 48 hours of the incident, and you will be billed $750.
