Using OWA to Access Your Bentley Email

Your email account will be permanently deleted on the date listed above, until then you can access your Bentley email using the Outlook client or Outlook Web Access (OWA) through MyBentley or directly at owa.bentley.edu.

Forwarding You Bentley Email to Another Account

Until your email account is permanently deleted, you can access your Bentley email by forwarding it to an alternate address. When you forward your Bentley email, a copy of your email message will not remain in your Bentley account and will not be accessible in the Outlook client or via the web using OWA. To forward your Bentley email, click the “Student Self Service” quick link on the Home tab in MyBentley. Next, click "Personal Information", then "Forward Bentley Email".

Bentley Alumni Email Forwarding and FalconNet

Bentley Alumni Email Forwarding is available to all Bentley graduates through Alumni Relations. Once you create an Alumni login, you have the ability to create a Bentley Alumni email address (username@alum.bentley.edu) and specify the email account of your choice to which it will be fowarded.

Moving Your Bentley Personal Address Book to a New Outlook Client Profile (not OWA)

If you want to save the contacts in your Personal Address Book, you can export your contacts to a Personal Folder File (.pst) file which you can then open in Microsoft Outlook.

To backup your Personal Address Book in Outlook, follow these four steps:

Step 1: Save your contacts to a Personal Folder File

  1. In Contacts view, from the File menu, select Import and Export.
  2. Select Export to a file.
  3. Click the Next button.
  4. Highlight Personal Folder File (.pst) and click the Next button.
  5. Highlight the Contacts folder and click the Next button.
  6. In the Save exported file as text box, select where you want to save the contacts file.
  7. Select the Replace duplicates with items exported radio button.
  8. Click the Finish button.
  9. In the Name field, select a name for your contacts.
  10. In the Password fields, put in a password if you want.
  11. Click the OK button.

Step 2: Delete your Bentley Exchange Profile on your notebook(optional)
Note: Once your profile is deleted, your Bentley email will only be accessible via OWA.

  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on the Mail icon.
  3. Click the Email Accounts button.
  4. Highlight your Bentley Exchange profile (e.g., Microsoft Exchange Server) and click the Remove button.

Step 3: Create a new Outlook Profile
Using the instructions provided to you by your email provider (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail, etc.), configure Outlook.

Step 4: Import Contacts from the exported PST to your new profile

  1. Open Outlook using your new profile.
  2. In Contacts view, from the File menu, select Import and Export.
  3. Highlight Import from another program or file and click the Next button.
  4. Highlight Personal Folder File (.pst) and click the Next button.
  5. In the File to Import text box, type the file name you want to import.
  6. Select the Replace duplicates with items imported radio button and click the Next button.
  7. Highlight the Contacts folder.
  8. Select the Import items into the current folder radio button.
  9. Click the Finish button.
