How to get information in an emergency situation

Whether there is severe weather  such as a hurricane or blizzard  or an event of the magnitude of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Bentley Emergency Response Team is ready to put the college's contingency plans into action.

You will find below several resources designed to give you up-to-date information in an emergency. If the Bentley website is temporarily disabled due to the situation, the telephone line will be activated for access from any location.

Boston area TV and radio stations are contacted when the college cancels classes and may be requested to announce updates for other types of situations. But, on rare occasions these stations post incorrect information. Bentley has no control over such errors. Please do not rely solely on one TV or radio station for updates.

We recommend that all members of the campus community print and keep a copy of these phone numbers and other resources handy:

Emergency Information Phone Line: 781.891.2020

This is Bentley's Storm Emergency Line, primarily used to announce weather-related cancellation of classes. However, if a campus-wide emergency occurs, a recorded message will instead provide expanded information updates. It is the only official and guaranteed-to-be-accurate source of information on the cancellation of classes and events.

Online Emergency Information:

When a critical situation affects the campus, look for a special Emergency Response website that will be prominently posted on www.bentley.edu

Email messages from Campus Police Chief Ernest Leffler, Vice President for Student Affairs Kathleen Yorkis, or others also may be sent to students, faculty and staff.

Depending on the situation, information on the Emergency Response Website may include:

  • Contact information on- and off-campus

  • Links to other helpful or special resources

  • News updates related to ongoing emergency situations
