Inclement Weather Pay Policy

All Staff (University Closes)

In the event that Bentley University is closed for the day due to inclement weather, all employees scheduled to work that day will receive their regular full day's pay. Any employee who has a scheduled vacation or personal day on a day when the University closes because of inclement weather must still record their time as vacation or personal time. Those on sick leave must record their time off as sick time. Only those who were scheduled to work that day should be compensated through the Inclement Weather Policy when the University officially closes and they were not allowed to work.

Exempt Staff (Delayed Start/Early Release)

In the event that the University has a delayed start or early release due to inclement weather, exempt employees must be paid for the full day if they work at all that day. Exempt employees are never paid increments of vacation, sick, holiday, personal or snow pay. Exempt time sheets should never reflect partial days.

Non-Exempt Staff (Delayed Start/Early Release)

In the event of a delayed start due to inclement weather, non-exempt employees will receive their full day's pay provided they arrive on or before the delayed start time. There is no additional pay for those who are able to arrive before the delayed start time.

In the event of early release due to inclement weather non-exempt employees who arrive on or before the early release time will receive their regularly scheduled full day's pay. There is no additional pay for those who choose to work beyond the early release time, unless they work beyond their regular scheduled hours for that week.

Part-time Staff (Delayed Start/Early Release)

If a delayed start or early release occurs during a part time employee's regular work time, they will receive their regular day's pay.

Notes:

Please note that the practices for University Police and others who may be required to be on campus during snow emergencies may differ. Refer to Union contract for Facilities Management practices. Contact Human Resources or Payroll with any questions.
