Personal Leave Policy

You may request a personal leave of absence if you wish to take time off from work for education, career development or other personal duties, after completing two years of service with Bentley University. Personal leaves may be granted for a maximum of 12 months. Your department's workload as well as the circumstances of your request will be considered in granting a personal leave.

Your employee benefits will be kept in force until the end of the paid portion of your personal leave. At that time, you will be responsible for the full costs of these benefits if your coverage is to continue. Time off benefit accruals will continue through the paid portion of your leave and will resume upon your return to active employment.

Bentley will make a reasonable effort to return you to your former position, if available, or to a similar position for which you are qualified; however, the University cannot guarantee such reinstatement in all cases. Should you fail to return to work at the end of your leave, the University will assume that you have resigned from your position and will terminate your employment.
