Teaching or Taking a Course During the Normal Work Day

The University recognizes that employees may on occasion teach as an adjunct at Bentley and/or take courses at Bentley University. As a general rule, these activities should be scheduled outside the normal work day. If circumstances prevent an employee from scheduling these activities outside normal working hours, employees must:

a) request and receive written approval from their manager prior to accepting the teaching assignment or registering for the course, and

b) make alternative arrangements with their manager regarding how the time off will be accommodated.

Additional assignments, such as teaching, are considered to be independent of one's regular position, thus neither the time spent nor the compensation earned in such an assignment will affect the employee's regular salary and benefits.
