Park Your Car
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint by Reducing Time Spent Behind the Wheel!
There are approximately 125 million cars on the road in the United States currently. Those 125 million cars along with the other hundreds of millions of cars across the globe are one of the leading causes of Global Warming.
Transport makes up 25% of the global carbon emissions - it makes up for 33% of America's total carbon emissions. Car pollution is the single greatest source of pollution in most cities across America. Car exhaust releases hazardous toxins including but not limited to: carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide. All of these affect human health, among other things. Car pollution also causes serious negative effects on the ozone layer by releasing chlorofluorocarbons (CFC). CFCs are the cause of the increasing hole in the ozone layer; a hole which is allowing more and more ultraviolet rays from the sun to affect Earth.
Each gallon of gas weighs approximately 6 pounds but releases around 19 pounds of greenhouse gas emission into the air. Is driving your car everyday, when there are sustainable and easy alternatives, really worth it?
