Grants Awarded
Accountancy PhD student Kim Westermann, advisor Professor Jean Bedard, and Associate Professor Christine Earley were awarded a 2008 PricewaterhouseCoopers INQuiries grant for their proposal entitled, “Apprenticeship in Professional Services Firms: Then and Now.” They were three of only 26 researchers receiving this nationally awarded grant. This project examines the attitudes of new and retired partners toward apprenticeship learning in public accounting firms, in order to identify: (1) whether and how firms’ apprenticeship cultures have changed over time; and (2) ways to improve apprenticeship learning in the future.
Accountancy PhD candidate Kojo Asare and his advisers Ali Abdolmohammadi and Bill Read were recently awarded a grant from Price Waterhouse Coopers under its PwC INQuires RFP for Applied Research Program for their proposal entitled “Expanding Auditors' Knowledge of Detailed Corporate Governance Factors Associated with Financial Fraud and Restatements.” Kojo will receive a $5,250 grant for his research.
