Crime Reporting:

Bentley makes numerous and diligent efforts to advise members of the campus community about crime and crime-related problems. The college's duty to inform is taken very seriously - as a result, information related to crime and criminal activity is provided to the community in an accurate and timely fashion. Notification efforts and methods include, but are not limited to, the following initiatives:

  • ANNUAL REPORT: A comprehensive annual report of crime-related information is compiled, published, and widely distributed. This report is available to the media and to all members of the campus community.
  • STUDENT NEWSPAPER: Bentley's student newspaper, the Vanguard, publishes a weekly summary of criminal incidents; the Bentley College Police Department supplies information and works closely with the Vanguard reporters in the preparation of this article for publication. Special feature articles are printed on the rare occasions when a serious crime has occurred, or when an incident on campus draws wide public attention.
  • SPECIAL ALERTS: If circumstances warrant, special alerts are prepared and distributed throughout the campus, including postings on the doors of residence halls.
  • PUBLIC LOG: The Bentley College Police Department prepares and maintains an incident log available for the sole purpose of public viewing. Those interested may review the log during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
  • RESIDENCE HALL CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS: Each residence hall program features a discussion of crime statistics and crime-related incidents. Past and current crime trends for the particular hall and its surrounding area are identified for the benefit of the community.

Campus Police Liaison Team:

The Campus Police Department uses a team of officers to make and maintain contact with various organizations throughout campus. Part of our effort to involve campus citizens in a community-police partnership, the process began in the residence halls, and has been a successful way to promote community involvement in safety and security issues. This program augments summer orientation programs provided by Campus Police.
