Bob Wittstein

Bob Wittstein has been named chief information officer for Bentley University. He joins Bentley from Harvard University, where he served as managing director of Administrative Technology Services and IT oversight for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, setting strategy and leading initiatives for IT across Harvard.

In his new role Wittstein will lead the Information Technology organization including the Academic Technology department and the Bentley Library, as well as develop and execute IT strategy in support of Bentley’s strategic plan.

In his prior work at Harvard Wittstein focused on implementing governance and control processes to deliver quality services to faculty, students and staff. He served on their CIO Council and led applications development supporting university enterprise systems. He was known for his success in building relationships and teams that enable and sustain change.

Wittstein brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge from more than 30 years in information technology, operations, procurement and manufacturing engineering, including serving as vice president of procurement and CIO at Sappi Fine Paper North America and chief operating officer/ chief information officer at Cyrk, Inc., a $1B promotional marketing company. Before joining Cyrk, Wittstein served as director of information systems at Warnaco, Inc. and at Owens Corning. Prior to this, he spent 14 years in manufacturing engineering at Sikorsky Aircraft.

He holds an MBA from the University of New Haven and a bachelor of science in Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
