Finance Faculty

Peter Siy
Lecturer, Finance

What do you teach?
I have taught several of the undergraduate General Business Core and Finance courses, including Tools and Concepts in Accounting and Finance, Practice and Applications in Accounting and Finance, Integrated Business Project, Principles of Accounting and Finance, and Advanced Managerial Finance.

Why do you like teaching at Bentley?
The students here are bright and motivated to excel in business. The size and quality of the campus facilitates interaction among students, as well as between students and faculty. The result: an upbeat and dynamic learning and work environment. Our facilities, such as the Trading Room and library, truly are state-of-the-art. And my peers are top-notch educators who really care about students.

What is your teaching style?
My entrepreneurial and CEO experience allows me to bridge the gap between theory and practice to give students the analytic tools for solving financial topics and applying those solutions to real-world business situations. I problem solve in each and every class and have an open dialogue with students about financial topics of the day. I try to develop an environment of mutual respect and keep it informal. And most importantly, I motivate students to be their best selves — hard work and integrity matter in business and in life.

What advice would you offer a new Bentley student?
Take advantage of as many learning opportunities as possible — business is competitive, so you can't have too many tools and techniques at your disposal. And because business is all about relationships, it’s important to form lasting relationships with your fellow students as well as faculty.
