Required Documents:

Because we look at each applicant holistically when designing the class, it is extremely important that we have all necessary information to evaluate each candidate. Be sure that you and your college counselor are familiar with these requirements and please contact the Office of Admission with any additional questions.

The application requirements for freshman applicants include:

  • APPLICATION FORM WITH $50 FEE
We accept the Common Application with a Bentley Common Application supplement, which can be either mailed it or submitted online. It is advised to complete and submit both the application and supplement at the same time. Students with financial hardships may submit the College Board Fee Waiver, to be completed by your high school counselor.
  • OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT
Please submit an official transcript for all high schools attended, including your most recent grades available at the time of application. It is imperative that we receive grades from your first marking period of your senior year, as soon as they become available. In addition, midyear grades should be forwarded once released.
  • COLLEGE ESSAY
You may respond to one of the several essay topics listed in the application.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS
We require two letters of recommendation, one from a counselor and one from a teacher, who can speak to your academic strengths and talents.
  • STANDARDIZED TESTS
We require that you take the SAT or ACT with Writing test.  Your results may be sent directly from the testing agency or indicated on your official high school transcript.

If English is not your primary language, you must also submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Systems exam (IELTS).
  • CERTIFICATE OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES FORM
If you are a non-U.S. citizen, this form must be completed.

If you are applying for financial assistance, you must submit the following documents by February 1:

    • Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    • CSS Profile
    • Tax returns of both parents and yourself from the
      previous year.

Admission Tips

Write the essay yourself, in your own words. While it's important to have a parent, counselor or friend review your essay, it should be your own work.
