Service Learning

The Bentley Service-Learning Center helps students build business, communication and teamwork skills while also contributing to society. For example, pre-law students helped a local public Internet center develop training materials on copyright and trademark law, privacy and cyberethics. International Studies students, meanwhile, took a first-ever trip to Hungary to learn conflict management and mediate political issues with the Gypsy Roma community.

Andres Fernandez '11

"I'm a project manager for Service Learning for a project called Creative Start. It's a program in Waltham, we teach older women who don't speak English, how to speak English. My job is to do lesson plans and to make sure students go and help. It's good because it helps you build leadership skills and get experience in the U.S. on how to deal with people."
