Gearing Up: Strategic Tools for Career Advancement

Bentley University’s fourth annual one-day professional development conference addressed the needs of professional women in the early stages of their career.

Keynote Speaker: Suzanne Bates, executive coach; author; speaker; entrepreneur; former award-winning television news anchor; and president and CEO of Bates Communications.

Intensive one-day conference with interactive workshops with a special emphasis on "Speaking-Up: Effective Communication for Women Professionals." Two skill building seminars in areas relating to negotiations, persuasion and interpersonal communications in the workplace environment.

The day featured a luncheon panel of highly accomplished business women sharing tips, insights and experiences on communicating well to achieve professional and personal success.

Featuring Cathy Minehan

Ms. Minehan addressed a group of 250 students, faculty, administration and corporate executives. Drawing on insights from her career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, she discussed the challenges of the current economic and fiscal crisis and ways in which business and government might respond in the weeks and months ahead.

Sponsored by the Graduate Women's Leadership Organization, alumnae gathered to hear the insights and wisdom of four high-level female professionals. The panel included Olivia Ho Cheng, President and CEO of Aurora Imaging Technology, Susan Esper, Partner at Deloitte & Touch LLP, Rosalee Hermans, Vice President and CIO at the Timberland Company and Carol Sanchez, Founder and partner of Sanchez & Santiago.

Executive Women Exploring New Directions

Group of accomplished women in a confidential exploring ways to insure that their future, both professional and personal, reflects their own definition of success. Facilitated by career coach Ginny O’Brien, author of Success on Our Own Terms, this workshop offerred interactive exercises and steps to fit their vision and needs. Designed for senior level executive women, the session included a working lunch, interactive workshop, a panel of women who have successfully redefined their lives, and a cocktail reception. Past participants have found this workshop to be hands-on, supportive and specific, whether they were restructuring a current career, starting a new one, or engaging in a portfolio of activities to add meaning to life.
