My Bentley Story by John Ioakimidis

My parents emigrated from Greece to build a better life. I feel very fortunate to be one of the first in my family to graduate college. Bentley gave me the tools and knowledge to be successful in life, and I have always been grateful for that. I never took my education for granted. I always felt the need to give back to the University (College at the time), but did not have the outlet to do so. Fast forward to 2009 when I was introduced to the first Bentley Business Networks. I immediately was intrigued and began to get more involved. I eventually hosted my own BBN in 2011 at Oracle, on the night the Bruins won the Cup! In 2012, I was approached by the Center for Alumni, Parents and Friends to lead the Greater Boston Alumni Chapter along with Michael Olson. We were tasked with re-energizing and bringing new ideas and energy back into the chapter. Since 2012, the Greater Boston Alumni Chapter has grown to be one of the most active in the country and continues to add committee members. I look forward to the Centennial as we celebrate and reflect upon the past 100 years of Bentley. A special thanks to Leigh Gaspar and Amy Tamburino for recommending me to lead the chapter and to Gary Kelly and Joe Dreezsen for their continued hard work at Bentley. I am honored to be part of this special group. John S. Ioakimidis, Chair, Greater Boston Alumni Chapter
