My Bentley Story by Toby Mead

Bentley was too expensive for me initially, so I attended UMass Amherst for a year and transferred in for my sophomore year. I earned 9 varsity letters while at Bentley, 3 each in field hockey, basketball and softball. I was a member of the basketball team that finished the 1979 season in 3rd place in N.A.I.A. Division II Championship. I was elected to the Bentley Sports Hall of Fame, but was unable to attend the induction ceremony. I worked three part-time jobs (including Resident Assistant) while attending Bentley full-time, playing three varsity sports each year, establishing friendships that have lasted a life time and graduating on time with honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy. My career took me all over the world starting with an auditing position in Detroit with Uniroyal, Inc. earning my Certified Internal Auditor designation, to becoming Director, Logistics North America for Michelin North America. The foundation provided by my Bentley accounting and business education was an enormous advantage toward jump starting my career. The support of the friends I established through sports and work life while at Bentley helped make me the person I am today and played an equally important role in my professional success.
