In an effort to celebrate students’ outstanding academic achievements in the study of a foreign language, the Modern Languages Department offers students the opportunity for membership into one of two accredited national honor societies. For students studying French, Italian, Japanese and Chinese, we offer membership in the honor society of Phi Sigma Iota. For students studying Spanish, we offer membership in the honor society of Sigma Delta Pi. Both societies are accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies.
Membership in one of these two honor societies comes with multiple benefits for Bentley students. Specifically, students can improve their career prospects by demonstrating academic excellence to future employers, thereby distinguishing them from other candidates. Honor society membership may also offer student’s opportunities to network with successful professionals in their field, apply for scholarship opportunities, publish undergraduate research, and attend unique academic programs on or off campus. For more information please see the Association of College Honor Societies.
Please read our individual pages on these honors societies for information about each organization and how to apply for membership.
