Maternity Policy (FMLA)

Bentley provides time off from work to new birth mothers in accordance with federal and state laws and University policy.

Pay During Leave

During a maternity leave, the employee must use accrued sick, vacation and personal time. The employee may retain one week of accrued vacation time for future use. If accrued time has been exhausted, the employee may apply for short-term disability after 30 days of absence. (See
Short Term Disability Policy.)


Full-time employees who are not eligible for FMLA, have used up their allotted 12 weeks per year, or who have a multiple birth, may qualify for additional benefits under the Massachusetts Maternity Leave Act (MMLA).

This policy may be amended at any time.
