Withdrawing or Taking a Leave of Absence

Students Withdrawing from Bentley

If you are withdrawing from Bentley you have the option to return your laptop to the Computing Services Helpdesk or purchase it for the current buyout price. Please email your name and Bentley ID number to the Manager of the Mobile Computing Program at fbachofner@bentley.edu for the current buyout price.

Important Information

If you wish to purchase your laptop you must run the Leaving Bentley Checkout Utility (if you do not run this utility your laptop will go into reduced functionality mode after 180 days).

If you opt not to purchase your existing laptop you must return it along with the AC adapter, power cord, and additional accessories to the Computing Services Helpdesk.  If your laptop computer is not returned prior to the first day of classes of the semester, you will be responsible for $300 of the $680 technology fee up through the sixth week of the semester.  After the sixth week, you are responsible for the full $680 technology fee.

Students Taking a Leave of Absence

If you take a leave of absence from Bentley, you have two options available to you:

  1. Retain your laptop computer while on leave. If you choose this option, complete the Retain Laptop Computer during Leave of Absence Waiver.

Note: If we do not receive your waiver form or your laptop computer within two weeks of the effective date of your leave of absence you will be charged a non-refundable charge including 6.25% Massachusetts State Sales Tax.

  2. Return your laptop computer, AC adapter, power cord, and additional accessories to the Computing Services Helpdesk before leaving Bentley. If the laptop computer is not returned prior to the first day of classes, you will be responsible for $300 of the $680 technology fee up through the sixth week of the semester. After the sixth week, you are responsible for the full $680 technology fee. When you return to Bentley, contact the Computing Services Desk to obtain a Bentley-issued laptop. This laptop will not be the same laptop that you returned. Instructions to mail a laptop computer to Bentley University.
