For the second time in four seasons, the Bentley University hockey team is headed back to Fenway Park to take part in Capital One Frozen Fenway. The Falcons will face off against Army West Point on Thursday, January 5 at 7:30 p.m.

The game between the Falcons and Black Knights will be the first of nine games that take place at Frozen Fenway over a 10 day period.

"It is exciting for our team, school, and alumni to be part of the rich tradition of Fenway Park again this year," says Bentley Hockey head coach Ryan Soderquist. "It will provide another great venue to rally the University and alumni together as we continue to celebrate 100 years of Bentley."

This will be the second straight season Bentley and Army West Point will play at a unique venue. Last season, the two programs squared off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a 6-2 win for the Falcons. This season they will take to the ice outdoors at venerable Fenway Park.

24 hours after taking the ice at Fenway, Bentley and Army West Point will conclude their weekend series at Ryan Arena in Watertown on January 6.

“Seeing the game on TV in previous years was a neat experience, and now it will be amazing to actually step foot out onto the ice for the first time in that historic ballpark,” says Bentley forward Kyle Schmidt ’18.

While many of the Falcons are not originally from Massachusetts, Connor Brassard ’20 who grew up in Fitchburg says Frozen Fenway will be a once in a lifetime event.

“Growing up in Boston and playing in Fenway Park is really a dream come true,” shares Brassard. “You don’t get an opportunity like that every day.”

Bentley’s centennial year has been a big one for the Bentley Hockey team. In September of 2016, the university began construction for a new multipurpose arena, which will provide the NCAA Division 1 hockey team with a much-needed home rink. Since 1977, the team has used the John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown. The multipurpose arena will also provide space for large scale events including seminars, concerts and guest speakers.
