Alison Davis-Blake

Bentley University will mark a new era with the inauguration of Dr. Alison Davis-Blake as the university’s eighth president during an installation ceremony on Friday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m. in The Bentley Arena. The ceremony will feature a traditional academic procession, remarks from members of the Bentley community and a keynote address from higher education leader Mary Sue Coleman, president of the Association of American Universities. “This is a milestone moment for Bentley University, as we move forward in our second century with a new leader,” says Bob Badavas, '74, chair of the Bentley University Board of Trustees. “Dr. Alison Davis-Blake is the perfect leader to advance the university’s mission and impressive growth.”

The entire Bentley community will be included in inauguration celebrations leading up to the installation ceremony. There will be events throughout the week designed for faculty, staff and students including:

  • Workshops for staff on why building a positive organization matters and how positive organizations increase both productivity and employee experience.

  • A student symposium focused on positive leadership and how students can make a positive impact during their experience at Bentley and beyond.

  • An academic symposium on The Future of Work with panels on “Human Sustainability and the Future of Work” and  “How Artificial Intelligence and Technology are Changing the Future of Work”. The keynote speaker will be management expert and author Jeffrey Pfeffer, Thomas D. Dee II Professor of Organizational Behavior at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

The week will also include a ceremonial tree planting to mark the occasion, representative of Bentley’s century of growth and its continued rise as one of the nation’s top business schools. The university celebrated its centennial in 2017.

Dr. Alison Davis-Blake joins Bentley as an accomplished academician and a leader in higher education. She served as dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota (2006-2011) and of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (2011-2016). Dr. Davis-Blake is a talented scholar with expertise in strategic human resource management and organizational design for effective management of human capital. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Organizational Behavior, both from Brigham Young University, and a PhD in Business Administration from Stanford University.
