Information Design and Corporate Communication Degree Faculty

Simon Moore
Associate Professor, Information Design and Corporate Communication

What do you teach?
I teach courses in public relations theory, practice and writing, sports public relations, international corporate communication and crisis management.

Why do you like teaching at Bentley?
I love helping students develop the tools they need to create interesting work. PR depends on creative thinking and teamwork that targets the audiences who need to hear it, and encourages them to join the conversation. No two days are the same in PR. I like exposing students to that environment and helping them think creatively.

What is your teaching style?
I like variety. We work on PR projects for many different types of businesses — large and small, traditional and unusual. I also help students learn about how innovations like social media are revolutionizing PR, opening creative opportunities and changing the way our target audiences behave.

What advice would you offer a new Bentley student?
It’s so important to do what interests you — life is too short to do otherwise. If you’re interested in information design, web design, or PR, it’s helpful to gain an understanding of topics like psychology, sociology, media studies, history and global studies. Communications fields need people who can communicate well verbally, write effectively, and know how to manage audiences’ perceptions on both the locally and globally.
