Women's Center Focused but Inclusive

For Edith Kwok ’11 of North Andover, Mass., joining the Women’s Center at Bentley was an easy decision. She met members of the center’s executive board at a fall activities fair in her freshman year.

“They were extremely friendly and welcoming,” she says. “I decided to attend a meeting, and I haven’t looked back.”

The Art of Organization

Sketching caricatures, fashioning hemp into jewelry, designing bold banners – these are just a few of the artistic endeavors that a new student organization has brought to campus.

Bentley Student Artists (BSA) is not even a year old, but already counts 90 students in its ranks. The group has its roots in an academic society whose members held regular meetings and workshops throughout 2009.

Artful Lessons in Leadership

A new seminar series explores topics outside the typical realm of business, but builds business skills nonetheless. The not-for-credit learning opportunities are sponsored through the Jeanne and Dan Valente Center for Arts and Sciences, and funded by a gift from Bentley parents Diane and Dennis Albano.

Students keen to organize a semester-long seminar submit a detailed proposal to the Valente Center.

The Green Team

Trends may change, but green is still the new black at Bentley. Student leaders aim to make sustainability the social norm among peers. An expanded Eco-Reps program is among the latest salvos in students’ battle for eco-consciousness. 

This year boasts the largest attendance at weekly meetings since the program’s launch in 2009. Twenty-five students represent 23 residence halls and aim to change habits in living spaces.
