Hector Jiminez-Guerrero ’17 thrives on the challenge of adapting to new environments. While studying abroad as a Santander fellow in Barcelona, Spain — his first trip to Europe — he was able to do just that, and much more. From seeing his favorite team, Real Madrid, in action to networking with likeminded students, Hector says his time abroad was a tremendous experience that strengthened his character:

"Having an up-close view of how diversity improves one’s quality of life and the opportunity to share my closest experiences with friends from around the globe, I was able to appreciate a variety of cultures that make our lives so wonderful.

"I think one of the underrated aspects of studying abroad is the networking opportunities that it provides. Studying at a university like ESADE, widely considered one of the top business schools in Europe, gave me the opportunity to connect with individuals going into very prestigious fields, both abroad and in the United States. Through that network, paired with my Bentley major in finance, I believe that I will expand my career horizons in a way that may not have been previously possible.

"Thank you to Santander for making my study abroad experience possible in the first place. I was able to achieve a lifelong dream — and it will stick with me for the rest of my life. I think I speak for every student when I say we are forever grateful for your help and look forward to continuing our professional relationship."
