This April, Professor of Mathematical Sciences and Director of the Center for Quantitative Analysis Sam Woolford returned to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana to speak on the topic of Business Analytics and the Opportunity for Applied Statisticians. The discussion explored the background and foundation of the new and developing field of Business Analytics and the implications that will follow. Following the discussion, Woolford received the 2013 Distinguished Science Alumni Award from the College of Science at Purdue University, an award that recognizes alumni for outstanding achievement in professional and related fields of endeavor.

Woolford completed both his Ph.D. and Master’s degree from Purdue University and his Bachelor of Science from Brown University. He has more than 20 years of consulting experience using business analytics to help clients solve complex problems, improve performance and enhance their competitive position. He has applied statistical methods and operations research to market research, litigation support, customer economics, operations analysis, performance metrics, modeling and simulation.

Prior to joining the faculty at Bentley, Professor Woolford held senior positions at Abt Associates Inc, KPMG LLP and Watson Wyatt Worldwide after serving on the faculty at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
