Ten Bentley juniors laced up their running shoes to benefit the pediatric hematology-oncology program at Mass General Hospital for Children. Organized by Ashley Worrell, the team hit the pavement for RunDisney’s Family 5K Fun Run at Walt Disney World Theme park in Orlando, Fla., in January. The official beneficiary of the RunDisney Marathon is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Team members included: Leslie Allen, Leighann Conlin, Mary Farrell, Jillian Harpin, Abby Hastings, Jennifer Kent, Anna Ribas, Christy Savery, Lauren Tessier, and Ashley Worrell.

The Worrell Family is also planning to organize a Bentley team for the Boston Marathon Patient Partnering program in April, and the Four Seasons Run of Hope in Boston in June.

The Worrell’s commitment to community service, particularly pediatric oncology, started in 2002 when Ashley’s basketball team supported her pediatrician in the Boston Marathon. Since then, they have supported Mass General’s pediatric hematology-oncology program in many ways, including raising funds, providing holiday gifts for the patients, providing prizes for fund raisers, and recognition efforts for the patient care team. Inspiration to support charitable causes also stems from Ashley’s mother’s diagnosis in of non-Hodgkins’ Lymphoma in 2004
