Where in the World is the Most Talent? Bentley Helps Answer the Question

Bentley University Professor Pierre Berthon developed the methodology to help determine which cities around the world have the most intellectual capital as part of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Global Talent Index (GTI). Professor Ian Cross, director of Bentley’s Center for Marketing Technology, coordinated the project.

Leading scholars from around the world will gather at Bentley to discuss key texts in the history of Chinese medicine as a preparatory step in the editing of the Handbook of Chinese Medical Literature. Bridie Andrews, associate professor of history, will use a $24,820 conference grant from the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange to organize the conference “Understanding Chinese Medical Literature” for August, 2012.

Consumers Keen on Energy Codes, According to Survey by Bentley University Students

A group of Bentley University students teamed up with nonprofits Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and Consumers Union (CU) to survey consumer perceptions of energy codes, which are minimum requirements that builders must meet in order to ensure that homes comply with energy efficiency standards.

International Listening Association Names Bentley University Professor Helen Meldrum as Researcher of the Year; Work Emphasizes the Importance of Listening Practices of Physicians

She was honored for outstanding achievement at the ILA annual conference in Seattle, Washington. The outstanding doctors featured in Meldrum’s research unanimously agreed that listening is at the heart of good medicine and that it is a holistic experience of coming to know patients that involves much more than simply hearing their words.

Bentley University Mathematical Sciences Professor Nathan Carter Wins Mathematical Association of America Beckenbach Book Prize

Nathan Carter, associate professor of mathematical sciences at Bentley University, is a winner of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Beckenbach Book Prize for Visual Group Theory (Mathematical Association of America, 2009). A $2,500 prize will be presented on January 5, 2012, at the 2012 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Boston.
