The "HIRE" Education Career Plan
With the help of your adviser, you’ll unify your academic, occupational and extracurricular into a cohesive plan, creating a powerful arsenal of tools that prepares you for a lifetime of professional success. We employ a four-step program that begins during your freshman year, and produces results for the vast majority of graduates.
Freshman Year: Explore
During your freshman year, you will start to develop an understanding of your skills, interests and abilities, and discover possible paths you might want to pursue through our Career Development Seminar for first-year students. The Career Services staff, including your dedicated first-year adviser, will work closely with you in the classroom as you begin your exploration.
Sophomore Year: Experiment
This year, as you start to consider the major you would like to choose, career-related programs, activities and first internships offer great opportunities to try things out and see what fits. Once you select a major in the spring, you will work directly with a dedicated major career adviser who will support your career exploration and encourage you to begin seeking an internship.
Junior Year: Experience
Start honing your skills through an internship — more than 90 percent of our students complete at least one. This is the time to apply the knowledge you're learning in the classroom to the workplace. You will revise and confirm your career goals, advance your résumé, and take advantage of on-campus interviews and Bentley career fairs to find more relevant internships or jobs that will develop your experience and further you on your career path.
Senior Year: Excel
You've worked hard during your time at Bentley to position yourself for career success. Now it's time to excel by leveraging your education, experiences and activities; building professional relationships; landing a full-time position and successfully transitioning to the workplace. The Career Services staff will work closely with you every step of the way. You’ll quickly discover just how valuable you are to employers — more than 95 percent of our grads are hired or accepted to graduate programs. Regardless of where you go after graduation, you will have all the skills you need for lifelong professional success.
