Discontinued State Resources - Databases Leaving July 1
June 9, 2025
Dear Bentley community,
The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) in partnership with the Massachusetts Library System (MLS) has provided statewide access to many resources over the years supported by state funding as well as federal funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). These resources include research databases that are available to school, public, academic, and special libraries in Massachusetts. The Bentley Library has benefitted from these statewide databases, allowing us to offer more options to our community for teaching and research.
However, due to funding cuts at the federal level, MBLC and MLS have to reduce the number of research database offerings and will be discontinuing access to certain resources. The following databases, once provided by the state, will no longer be available starting July 1, 2025:
- Britannica Moderna
- Gale Academic OneFile Select
- Gale General OneFile
- Gale Health and Wellness
- Gale in Context: Biography
- Gale in Context: Environmental Studies
- Gale in Context: Global Issues
- Gale in Context: Science
- Gale in Context: US History
- Gale in Context: World History
- Gale Interactive Science
- Gale LegalForms
- Gale Literature Resource Center
- HeritageQuest Online
- Peterson's Test Prep
- Transparent Language Online
Each resource impacted has been noted on our Databases A-Z page with a reminder that access will end on July 1, 2025.
