On Display - Earth Day: Eco-art, Architecture, and Design for Change
April 14, 2026
You can’t spell EARTH without ART! This year in celebration of Earth Day, Bentley Library is partnering with the BSLCE and Collins Creative Corner to encourage the Bentley Community to make, look at, and read about eco-art and sustainable design to find ways to connect to nature and one another and imagine better climate futures.

Depicting and altering our physical environment and reflecting upon our place within it has been central to humankind’s earliest known forms of art such as Cave Paintings and Megaliths. The books on display show an array of ways artists, designers, and architects take inspiration from studying nature and are working to build environmental awareness and create pathways towards more sustainable systems.
To find out more about eco-art, check out TO LIFE by Linda Weintraub or Art and Ecology Now by Andrew Brown, both are great survey books to get you started on an exploratory journey across ecological and artistic approaches. If you’re interested in architecture, look at Biophilic Design: The Theory, Science and Practice of Bringing Buildings to Life, it explores our innate need to connect to nature and how to build those connections into our structures and cities. For the eco-fashionistas we have The Sustainable Fashion Handbook- a comprehensive guide to the environmental and social issues in the fashion industry. Lastly, take a moment to come into the world of Passage with over 200 photographs of artworks by renowned environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy, who transforms natural elements with patience and power.
The books will be on display in our lobby April 14 - May 21. You can also browse the display online.
