Linked in Hope: Essential Readings for MLK Day

The Bentley Library is happy to serve as a drop-in space for all community members to explore, discover, and reflect on readings from our book display honoring MLK Day.

Book selections for this special display include Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s own words, as well as his contemporaries, and books by current advocates who were influenced by Dr. King.

Martin Luther King, Jr. lived a life of hope, believing, in his own words: “we must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” This hope was visionary, strengthened by his faith and morality, and proven to be a powerful force. Dr. King’s inspiration influences today’s new leaders to make transformative changes.

We hope you’ll connect with stories that will bring you calm and peace in today’s chaotic world. Perhaps something you read here will provide knowledge that will invigorate you to take meaningful action, small or big, in the ongoing call for justice.

The MLK Day curated collection is on display at the library until January 30, 2026. You can also browse the online display anytime! Login to your account to pin and request books.
