Reading Day Relief: Crafts, Games, & Free Snacks at the Library - Tuesday, December 9

Need a break from studying? Join us at the library for Reading Day Relief activities on Tuesday, December 9th! Here are the highlights:

  • Snack Break (12:00-2:00 p.m.): Grab free coffee, hot cider, and snacks in the lobby.
  • Crafternoon (12:30-4:30 p.m.): Get creative! Make keychains, buttons, bracelets, snow globes, and crochet snowflakes. (Check the full schedule below for activity times/locations)
  • Game Night (5:00-9:00 p.m.): Co-sponsored by BABT in the Bowles Room. Come play!

Throughout finals week, visit the lobby for continuous stress-busters like making your own bookmarks, working on a community jigsaw puzzle, and playing board games.

READING DAY RELIEF ACTIVITIES: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9

SNACK BREAK
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the lobby 
Coffee, tea, hot apple cider, and snacks to give you a boost.

CRAFTERNOON

  • DIY KEYCHAINS, BUTTONS & BRACELETS 
    12:30 – 2:30 p.m. in room 101 
    Use the library button maker to make buttons or keychains (new option this semester!) to add some flair to your jackets, backpacks, and bags. We're also fully stocked with bracelet making supplies - make one for yourself or to give to a friend.
  • MAKE A SNOW GLOBE
    1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the art gallery atrium
    Make your own winter wonderland! Danielle Krcmar, RSM Art Gallery Curator, will provide instruction and all materials needed to construct a snow globe. (while supplies last)
  • CROCHET YOUR WAY TO CALM - SNOWFLAKE EDITION
    2:30 –  4:30 p.m. in room 101
    Drop in to crochet a snowflake and get a hands-on tutorial! If you are already a crochet enthusiast, bring your skills to share with others.

GAME NIGHT! BOARD GAMES WITH BABT
5:00–9:00 p.m. in the Bowles Room (lower level, room 043) 
In this Reading Day Relief partnership, Bentley Association of Board and Tabletop Games (BABT) is providing a variety of popular and classic games for all to enjoy. Come alone or bring friends—either way, you’re sure to have a great time playing an old favorite or learning a new game with the help of BABT members. Light snacks will be provided.

FINAL EXAMS STRESS REDUCERS: DECEMBER 10-16

We’re providing opportunities and activities that will help reduce stress, stimulate creativity, and boost your mood all throughout exam period. Take a break from your computer screen and head to the lobby to explore:

DIY BOOKMARKS: Check out the coffee tables in front of the gallery for all the materials needed to make your own bookmarks. We’ll have plenty of pre-made bookmark templates, blank bookmarks, stencils, markers, colored pencils, and tassels on hand for you to get crafty. 

GAMES TABLE: Grab a friend or two for a board game study break. You'll find chess, checkers and Scrabble boards at the ready.

COMMUNITY JIGSAW PUZZLE: Whether you add one piece or many, pitch in to help us complete the latest puzzle.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WHITEBOARD: Post your positive messages to help your fellow Falcons through finals.

As you wrap up your final papers, projects, and assignments don’t forget that library staff are here to help. There is no question too big or too small - let us know if you need a hand.
