Study Breaks & Stress Relievers: Snacks / DIY Bracelets, Buttons & Bookmarks / Rust Dyeing / Games / and more!

Check out these Reading Day Relief and final exams period stress relief activities at the library! Take care of yourselves as we enter the final stretch of the semester. Be sure to eat well, get plenty of sleep, and take frequent study breaks.

Don't forget that library staff are here to help with everything from printing, to booking a study room, to conducting research and creating citations. No question is too big or too small.  

READING DAY RELIEF ACTIVITIES: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12

STUDY BREAK SNACKS & BEVERAGES
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the lobby 
Coffee, tea, hot apple cider, and snacks to give you a boost.

RUST DYEING
12:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the art gallery  
RSM Art Gallery Curator Danielle Krcmar will show you how to use rusty objects and vinegar to transform a plain T–shirt into something uniquely fabulous. All materials will be provided, but you can bring your own white cotton or silk fabric with you to dye if you’d like. Drop-in between 12-2pm to participate (while supplies last).  

BUTTON MAKING
12:00 – 2:00 p.m. in room 101 
Take a pause from studying to make-your-own buttons using the library's button makers. We'll provide pre-made designs, magazines, and coloring books to use, or you can put markers to paper and create your own design.  

FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS
2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in room 101 
You don’t have to be a Swiftie to enjoy this activity! Let your mind wander as you design and craft your own bracelet to keep or share. All materials will be provided.  

FINAL EXAMS STRESS RELIEVERS: DECEMBER 12–19

We’re providing opportunities and activities that will help reduce stress, stimulate creativity, and boost your mood all throughout exam period. Take a break from your computer screen and head to the lobby to explore:

DIY BOOKMARKS: Check out the coffee tables in front of the gallery for all the materials needed to make your own bookmarks. We’ll have plenty of bookmark templates, colored pencils, and tassels on hand for you to get crafty. While you’re at it, check out a book from the popular reading display to read over winter break.  

GAMES TABLE: We’ve noticed how popular the library chess board is, and we’re adding Scrabble and Checkers into the mix for exams period. Grab a friend or two for a board game study break.

COMMUNITY JIGSAW PUZZLE: Whether you add one piece or many, pitch in to help us complete the latest puzzle.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WHITEBOARD: Post your positive messages to help your fellow Falcons through finals.
