Winter Break Fun: Get Books, Streaming Films, & Museum Passes (Even When the Library is Closed!)

Did you know that even when the library is closed during winter break you still have access to some of our most popular services and resources? Here are a few things that current Bentley students, staff, and faculty can enjoy without visiting the building:

Catch up on your leisure reading

Bentley Library provides access to thousands of popular ebooks and digital audiobooks from OverDrive anywhere, anytime, on any device using the Libby app. Our collection includes new releases and bestsellers, often without a waitlist or with a much shorter waitlist than you may experience at your public library. New titles are added regularly!

Visit a museum, zoo, historic site, or botanical garden

The library's Museum Pass Program offers museum passes that provide free or reduced admission to several Boston-area museums, sites, and attractions. Any pass labeled as an “ecoupon” on the reservation site can be booked and delivered online anytime. Instructions for use will be in your confirmation email; just click on the “Pass Details” link! 

Note: All other passes need to be picked up in-person while the library is open. That means getting your passes before we close for winter break (6:00 p.m. on December 22) or after we re-open (8:00 a.m. on January 8). 

Stream a film or documentary

Find films and documentaries to stream online for free from our four streaming films databases. If you're looking for a popular movie, start with the Swank and Kanopy streaming platforms. Here are some tips for what you'll find in each database:

  • Swank and Kanopy - popular and critically acclaimed movies and documentaries
  • Films on Demand  - films and documentaries from a variety of producers and media outlets (e.g. PBS, HBO, BBC, the Ken Burns Collection) 
  • Academic Video Online - educational videos and academic content
