National Library Week is an annual celebration of libraries and library workers. This year’s theme, Libraries = Strong Communities, puts the focus on the important role that libraries play in their communities—cities, towns, schools and campuses—by providing critical resources, programs, expertise and space for all community members to come together to connect and learn.

Take a look at the 100+ new books, DVDs and audiobooks we added to our shelves and OverDrive digital collections in March! Go to the New Books & DVDs page to browse the new arrivals by subject or format. When you see something you want, click the “Request” button to place a hold on it.

This display was inspired (cynically) by Earth Day. Earth Day (April 22) reminds us that we need to care for the planet. The items on display deal with themes of waste, contamination, toxicity, or pollution. These are all non-fiction DVDs and books selected on the sad subject of degrading the environment or trashing the earth, in some form or another.

Choose from more than 6,000 individual courses and short videos, taught by industry experts, on business, creative/applied arts, and technology topics.

Now on view in the RSM Art Gallery is Other Worldly, an installation of large format paintings, triptychs, and diptychs by Nancy Hayes. All are invited to attend a reception for the artist in the gallery on Thursday, March 21, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

It certainly doesn't look or feel like spring right now, but it is time for spring break! Although classes are not in session, the library will remain open during the week with some modifications to our normal hours.

If you aren't traveling next week you can stop in for a quiet place to relax, to borrow books and movies, or to pick up a museum pass (there are still plenty of passes available for next week - reserve them online now).

The Audies – the Oscars of the audiobook industry – are awarded annually by the Audio Publishers Association. Many of the 2019 award-winners and finalists are available at the library and the library staff have conveniently pulled together this content for you to checkout and enjoy over Spring Break and beyond.
