We will educate ethical and adaptable business professionals who embrace data-driven accounting decision-making. Faculty will produce innovative, high-quality scholarly research that informs the global profession.

Thibodeau receives Best Paper Award

Jay Thibodeau, professor and director of Bentley’s PhD programs, received the Best Paper Award from Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory for “Audit Partners’ Judgments and Challenges in the Audits of Internal Control over Financial Reporting.” The annual award recognizes a paper published in the journal within the past three years that has had a significant influence on, or the potential to significantly influence, auditing research or practice.

Celebrating the inaugural class of MSA Fellows

This fall, Bentley welcomed eight students as part of its new Masters of Accounting Fellowship program, which is specifically designed to increase diversity within the accounting industry. In addition to receiving full tuition remission — costs are covered by the university and the program’s current corporate sponsors, Deloitte, KPMG and RSM — students selected as MSA Fellows are assigned both faculty and corporate mentors and receive customized career guidance and enhanced preparation for the CPA exam. Recently, three students shared their thoughts about the program.

Faculty, alumnae honored for innovation

The American Accounting Association recognized professors Scott Boss and Jay Thibodeau with the 2022 Innovation in Auditing and Assurance Education Award for their paper, “IntelliClean: A Teaching Case Designed to Integrate Data Cleaning and Spreadsheet Skills into the Audit Curriculum.” Making the achievement even more meaningful: The paper’s co-authors— Cristina Alberti PhD ’22, an assistant professor at Babson College, and Kara Hunter ’09, MBA ’10, PhD ’17, an assistant professor at Fairfield University — are both graduates of Bentley’s PhD in Accounting program.
