Philosophy

At Bentley, Philosophy majors get broad exposure to liberal arts, in addition to business studies. You’ll learn to account for diverse viewpoints, solve problems and clearly articulate your ideas. The critical thinking skills you gain through a Philosophy degree can be applied directly to positions in journalism, healthcare, business or government. Philosophy majors are attractive candidates for graduate programs in law and business, too.

As a Philosophy major, you will graduate with a broad knowledge of business by completing courses that are part of the Business Administration minor. You will also have the option of complementing your Philosophy major with a Business Administration major, or any other approved Bentley major, by using some of your free electives to take additional courses.

Technology and Values (PH160)

Advanced technology has been integrated with virtually every aspect of human life. It has transformed work, play, education, entertainment, business, science, politics, media, personal relationships, and our identities. Students will examine technology through a philosophical and ethical lens and explore the nature of technology, its relationship with society and culture, and its promise and perils. We will also critically evaluate the significance, benefits, and costs of a range of technological developments, such as the Internet and social media, big data, automation and work, virtual reality, robots and artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and human enhancement.

Seeing beauty from the inside out

The clothing we wear can impact our mood and inspire confidence. That’s particularly true when choosing a high school prom dress. It’s one reason why a group of Bentley students every year hold an event, known as Dresses to Dreams, to provide prom dresses to local high school students who may not otherwise be able to afford them. Another reason? To help young women build self-confidence that will last long after high school.
