Mathematical Sciences

Worldwide, companies need advanced mathematicians to collect, analyze and model data. That’s why our Mathematical Sciences degree is rooted in both theory and practice. You’ll learn calculus, fractals and trigonometry, and then you’ll practice real-world applications, like pricing and environmental management. You’ll gain the analytical skills and quantitative tools needed to work in a range of in-demand fields, from air traffic control to robotics.

As a Mathematical Sciences major, you will graduate with a broad knowledge of business by completing courses that are part of the Business Administration minor. You will also have the option of complementing your Mathematical Sciences major with a Business Administration major, or any other approved Bentley major, by using some of your free electives to take additional courses.

Chaos, Fractals and Dynamics (MA 205)

This course introduces basic concepts of dynamical systems through lectures, slides, films and computer experimentation. Students predict system behavior based on mathematical calculations and on observation of computer results (no computer programming experience is necessary). Topics include iteration of functions, Julia sets, Mandelbrot sets, chaos and fractals.
