A French national, born in Lebanon, with an engineering degree in Computer Sciences from “Ecole Centrale de Lyon,” Micheline Germanos started her career in Paris leading an all-male team of engineers in an IT startup. After a successful career in technical and European management roles at Philips and Nortel, she was hired by Microsoft Europe as a senior director for web services and hosting. In 2007, she moved to the Microsoft Headquarter in Redmond (Wash.) with her husband and two children, to hold the position of worldwide general manager of sales enablement and excellence.
In her current role, Germanos is managing a team responsible for Microsoft’s Subsidiary (Field) Marketing Excellence, leading a worldwide community of Marketing and Operations Leaders in 65 countries to drive success in the areas of business, marketing and operations in each geography. Her responsibilities also include leading talent management efforts to ensure global leadership readiness and talent pipeline development. At the beginning of her current role, Germanos made ‘increasing female leader representation’ among the 65 Marketing and Operations Leaders, one of her goals. Today, two years later, the percentage of female leaders in this group has increased from 17 to 33 percent, and hiring and building a strong pipeline of female leaders is now part of the culture of these leaders within their organizations around the world.
As the executive sponsor for diversity and inclusion in the Microsoft Worldwide Marketing and Operations Group, Germanos is an active and passionate change agent for increasing diversity and Inclusion and building strong female leaders. She has represented Microsoft at many conferences, including Working Mothers Magazine Multicultural Women’s Conference in New York, and several internal Women@Microsoft Conferences.
