A fall like no other – Thank you

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We have made it to the final stretch of 2020, a year that we’ll remember for a lifetime. This pandemic has brought sorrow to every corner of the world, with many having lost loved ones and many more suffering isolation and financial hardship. In our own community, it’s been a year that has challenged our faculty and staff in ways we never could have imagined. Every one of us is tired of this pandemic, and we all want life to return to normal.

And yet, in the face of so many challenges, our community has come together like never before to adapt and move ahead. From supporting our students’ learning to keeping our community healthy and safe, a great deal has been asked of each one of you since the spring.

Every step of the way, you have delivered.

Hybrid classrooms. Weekly screening tests. Revamped housing. Remote learning. Quarantine rooms. Reconfigured buildings. Grab-and-go dining. Reimagined student activities. Contact tracing. The list of ways you adapted to support our students goes on, and we could never name them all. Every one of you played a role in our success this fall in bringing our community back together, helping our students to continue to learn, and keeping our campus healthy and safe.

These numbers are truly impressive. Together, they tell the story of what our community can accomplish when we work together, even when we’re apart. As we head into winter break next week and close the book on a fall like no other, we wanted to thank you once again for your tireless work, your “can do” problem-solving and above all, your commitment to doing what we do best – helping our students to continue to learn and grow.

We hope that you find time to rest and reflect this holiday break, knowing that together you have, against the odds, brought us back together and accomplished something truly remarkable this fall.
