The list of college dorm room essentials — twin XL comforters, shower caddies and power strips — was familiar, but the individuals behind the belongings, members of Bentley’s Class of 2030, arrived on campus for Move-In Day with unique stories, experiences and goals.

The incoming class of approximately 1,053 students represents 34 states and territories and 43 countries, including Brazil, China, Colombia, Ghana and Spain. Roommates greeted each other, some meeting in person for the first time, as they began unpacking boxes and setting up their new living spaces. Empty dorm room walls were transformed into reminders of home, with collages of lifelong friends, favorite band posters and beloved sports team flags.

The day’s events went beyond unpacking, decorating and organizing. In the afternoon, students and their families and friends gathered for a Falcon Walk procession to the Bentley Arena for convocation, an annual ceremony to mark the official start of the college journey. Later in the evening, students headed to the Green Space for a glow-in-the-dark event featuring illuminated swings and ping pong — plus music and more.

Photos and videos captured milestones and quiet moments throughout the week, beginning with groups who arrived earlier, including international students, student-athletes and those enrolled in the MOSAIC Experience, a pre-orientation program open to first-year students of color and allies.

The week culminated on August 27, when much of the class arrived to an enthusiastic welcome from orientation leaders and other volunteers lining the roadways and helping to unload belongings.
