How to Report Sexual Harassment or Workplace Discrimination, Harassment, or Bullying

Bentley University is committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for all members of our community. The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) serves as an independent resource for receiving, assessing, and responding to reports of sexual harassment, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and other equity- and Title IX–related concerns involving faculty, staff, and students.

If you experience or observe conduct that you believe may violate Bentley’s Sexual Harassment Policy or Workplace Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying Policy, you are encouraged to seek support as soon as possible. OIE provides a neutral and supportive space to help you understand your options, address concerning behavior, explore informal resolution pathways, or request a formal investigation.

While Human Resources may play a role in addressing certain workplace matters, involvement from HR or other offices does not occur automatically in every case. When additional offices are needed to respond effectively, OIE will coordinate appropriately and, when possible, keep you informed about next steps.

What matters most is that you receive the support you need and that concerning behavior is addressed and does not continue or recur.

Procedures

What do these procedures apply to?

The procedures outlined below apply to internal reports of sexual harassment, workplace discrimination, harassment, and bullying. If you want to file an external report of discrimination or harassment to a government agency, please see their contact information in the Sexual Harassment Policy and Workplace Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying Policy

These procedures do not apply to concerns about faculty appointments, evaluations, promotions, tenure decisions, or terminations, which should be raised with the appropriate Chair or Dean.  These procedures also do not apply to concerns about performance reviews or salary increases, which should be raised with the employee’s manager.  However, these procedures would apply if an employee believes that such employment actions violate the Sexual Harassment Policy or Workplace Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying Policy.

If your concern relates to conduct by a student, and the issue is not resolved directly with the student, you should seek assistance from the Title IX Coordinator.
