Fall 2022 First Year Student Registration FAQs

I am getting an error when I try to register in Schedule Planner, how can I fix this?

We have learned that some students may need to take an additional step when registering from a saved schedule from what was described in the webinar last week.

Typically, when you click “Send to Shopping Cart” in Schedule Planner, we would expect to see only new courses in your saved schedule. In some cases, however, you may find that your pre-registered courses are also included in your Saved Schedule in Workday Student.

This will generate an error in our registration system. Refer to this updated Schedule Planner how to guide to be prepared to register successfully, should you be impacted.

How do I know if my AP/IB/Transfer credit was accepted and what will the credit go towards?

Advanced standing credit that been received by Bentley's Admission Office will appear in Workday in the External Records tab. These credits will be process by Bentley and will then appear in the Academic History tab.

Can I change my pre-registered courses?

Although we encourage you to start exploring courses in Schedule Planner we must stress that it is very important you do not drop any of your pre-registered courses at this time. You will have an opportunity to add, drop and swap courses when registration opens on Wednesday, July 20 at 10AM.

What should I take if I am bringing in credit for EMS or MA?

If you are getting advanced standing credit for math, you will be preregistered for CS100. If you are getting advanced standing credit for EMS101, you will receive information before Wednesday, July 20th with information about your class options.

What do I need to register myself for? How many classes should I have in the Fall?

Students should have 5 courses in the Fall semester. You will be pre-registered for 2 courses and therefore need to register yourself for 3 additional courses to complete your schedule. To understand which courses you need to register for please refer to the recorded webinar.

How do I declare a minor/major/additional programs?

While we know students may be very excited about declaring and starting courses for majors and possible minors, students should be focusing on the Foundations and Business Dynamics courses for their first year. Students do not typically begin taking major/minor courses until their second year.

Which Context and Perspectives course is best for me? Is there a list of Context and Perspectives courses?

We recommend selecting a Context and Perspectives course that sounds interesting to you! The courses taken by students will vary based on the topics and categories. There is a filter to search for the Context and Perspectives courses in Schedule Planner. There are 6 different topics within Context and Perspectives you can choose from. Once you are in Schedule planner, select add course and click search by course attribute at the top, then click Attribute and choose one of the 6 Context and Perspectives topics from the drop down, from here it should populate a list of courses.

Where can I get information about the new curriculum?

Students beginning courses in Fall 2022 will fall under Bentley's new curriculum. Students who previously started courses at Bentley prior to Fall 2022 are participating in another curriculum. Information on Bentley's websites will vary based on old/new curriculum guidelines and requirements. For more information, please visit the Undergraduate Curriculum page.

Where can I access the 2022-2023 catalog?

Please note that the 2022-2023 Academic Catalog is not yet posted. Students should not refer to other academic catalogs as those will hold information for students on the previous curriculum and may have varying requirements for degrees.

I have a question that is specific to my situation about registration, what should I do?

Consider attending the drop-in sessions being held prior to and on registration day.
