Your Role in the Advising Partnership
Advising works best as a partnership. To make the most of your experience:
- Engage early: Seek help before a concern becomes urgent and understand the role of your advisor.
- Stay connected: Know your assigned advisor, check your Bentley email, and participate in advising opportunities.
- Use advising tools: Review DegreeWorks, Workday, and Navigate Bentley to track progress and prepare for conversations.
- Know your requirements: Stay familiar with degree requirements, policies, deadlines, GPA, registered credits, and completed credits.
- Prepare for meetings: Review your degree audit, bring questions and possible schedules, take notes, and follow through on next steps.
- Use drop-ins appropriately: Reserve drop-ins for quick or time-sensitive questions and schedule an appointment for complex topics.
- Keep information current: Update your address, phone number, and other personal information when needed.
- Use official resources: Refer to the Graduate Academic Catalog and University webpages for current academic information.
Planning Note: Frequent program changes or inconsistent course enrollment may affect timely degree completion. Advisors can provide realistic guidance, help you avoid common mistakes, and suggest alternatives, but a specific graduation timeline cannot be guaranteed. |
